that's a chin up and not a pull up. a pull up is when the bar (branch) goes behind the head. Mainly using the deltolds muscles. try 12 real pull ups. Also, lot of body motion. try the chin up without using legs. just pull with them arms. Doing it the right way makes all the difference.
